St. Joseph’s Banner makers

St. Joseph’s Banner makers began in September 2000 at the suggestion of Fr. Aidan.

Our first project was a set of Lenten banners which were put up in Church for Ash Wednesday 28th February 2001. We then went on to make pairs of banners for the main Liturgical seasons.

So far we have completed banners for Advent, Christmas, Christian unity, Lent, Easter, Pentecost and Ordinary time. In addition we have a small banner depicting St. Joseph’s Church and another single banner of Our Lady of Peace.

The banners are all worked with a combination of hand and machine embroidery. A certain amount of plain sewing is involved in the construction and lining of the banners.

At present our group is comprised of four stitchers and we meet as and when necessary as most of the sewing is done at home. Our intermittent meetings take place on Monday afternoons in the Presbytery at 2p.m.

We would welcome any new stitchers. Anyone interested please contact Pat Moss in person or email this website.

A gallery of our wonderful church banners can be seen here.
