Alpha Group

Alpha Equip and Refresh Day - Preston

We would like to invite you and your team to come to an exciting new Alpha training event. An Equip & Refresh day is to be held on Saturday 8 September 2007 from 9.20am (starting with coffee) at Holy Family Ingol, Preston, PR2 3YP. Holy Family Ingol is situated on the corner of Redcar Ave & Whitby Ave, off Tag Lane, only a few minutes drive from Junction 1 of the M55.

This is a new style of Alpha training designed to let you experience Alpha models through small groups. It also provides an opportunity for you and your team to hear about ways in which you might: - Run more successful courses - Attract people to your courses - Learn from the experience of others running Alpha - Hear suggestions about what happens after Alpha.

The Equip & Refresh day runs from 9.20am to 5.00pm, and the programme will include: - Worship - Contributions from Alpha participants and leaders - Talks on how to run the Alpha course most effectively - Models of best practice - Ministry and prayer.

There will be to parallel tracks. Track 1 is for those who haven't been on an Alpha Conference or Equip and Refresh Day before and will explain the principles and practicalities of Alpha. Track 2 is to help those with more experience of Alpha to develop their course. Please indicate on the booking form which track you would like to follow on the day.

The day costs £5 per person, which includes all materials, as well as coffee and tea. Please bring your own packed lunch.

We hope you will be able to come on 8 September as it will be a great opportunity to meet others and share success stories as well as issues. It will also provide an ideal opportunity to find out what else is happening in the area for joint Alpha campaigns in the autumn.

If you or others in your church would like to come, please complete the attached form and return it to:

Christine Hope (Administrator), Alpha Equip and Refresh Day, The Vicarage, 36 Valeway Avenue, Thornton Cleveleys, FY5 3RN

with your cheque for £5 per person, payable to All Saints Anchorsholme at the above address, by Monday 3 September at the latest.

You can download a flyer which gives more details and a map giving directions to Holy Family Ingol from www.blackburn.anglican.org/alpha/20070908alphaconferencepreston.pdf

Alpha UK Update

For all the latest info read The Alpha Update online

Here are just 8 out of many exciting things happening

1) Launching the Alpha Viral advert

Back in May 2006, following a generous donation from an Alpha supporter for this purpose, the Alpha Viral competition was launched. The idea was to design a video clip, game or image which people would want to forward to friends and family by email and upload onto church and personal websites which would refer to alpha.org. Following a vast number of high quality entries the Alpha Viral Winner has been announced and is entitled 'Factory'. It's a fun clip with a very broad appeal - do check it out, forward it to friends and upload it onto your websites.

2) Alpha North West and Alpha South West

We are thrilled that this term will see the exciting opening of two new regional Alpha offices in the UK. Andrew Farley will be the Director of Alpha South West based in Somerset and Jon Paul Witt will be the Director of Alpha North West based in Manchester. These two new offices will serve to support and encourage all the Alpha courses in their surrounding areas.

3) Alpha Advisers and Resource Churches

Alpha Advisers and Resource Churches are able to give practical advice and support in the running of your Alpha course. They have loads of experience and will be able to any answer questions that come up. We have provided them with a library of Alpha resources which they may be able to lend you.
