Minutes of the meeting held on the 5th June 2008
Present: A.Cawthorn (Chair), A.Waters, P.Drake, Fr Harry, R.Page, A.Zammit,
P.Crean, C.O'Neill,
J.O'Neill, and M.C.Johnson.
Apologies: K.Moore
AC welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Minutes of the last meeting were accepted as accurate.
There followed a short reflection on a reading from the Gospel according to Mathew. The group then read the Prayer to the Holy Spirit.
Centenary Celebrations.
Opening Mass 16th August. This is a deanery Mass which we will plan.
The music will be as normal with the choir accompanied by guitars.
2nd Mass October 10th. Archbishop Kelly had informed the Parish he would not be able to attend. Bishop Patrick will celebrate the Mass. AW had received an e-mail to say Bishop Michael would be unable to attend due to a prior engagement. The group expressed their regret.
Closing Mass September 5th 2009 will be celebrated by Bishop Michael.
AC and any other members of the group who are free will be meeting with Fr,Paul
Johnston to discuss the music for the later two Masses on Saturday June 7th
at 16.45.
Fr. Harry informed the group we need not use the Mass of the day for these celebrations.
He suggested AC contact Fr T. Dakin to discuss possible liturgy. AC to implement.
It was suggested the schools, especially St Bede's be contacted to see if they
would like to contribute to the celebrations.
AC reminded the group that there was some urgency to finalise plans as it would
be necessary to obtain professionally printed booklets for the last two Masses.
Fr.Harry requested that a full Order of Service be typed up for the celebrant
at each of the services.
A discussion about the order of service at normal Sunday Mass followed and it was suggested to Fr.Harry that his secretary be asked to type this up for him each week.
Benediction
The PDT are understood to have decided to raise awareness of this service. They
are liaising with Fr M. Docherty, at Our Lady Star of the Sea, who is preparing
an explanatory booklet to see if this would be of use in this Parish. They are
also contacting E.Kelly to discuss raising awareness among the children who
attend St Peter's school and their families.
Other Liturgical Celebrations
None are planned at present. The SVP will be asked whether it would be possible
to bring the sick and housebound to the Centenary Deanery Mass in August.
Eucharistic Ministers.
. In view of the current problems doing the rota, AW asked Fr. Harry to consider
commissioning some new ministers to help distribute the Eucharist at the 17.05
Mass on Sunday. MCJ to contact the existing Ministers re; the rota.
