1) The meeting opened with prayers for Delia McLaughlin and Mary O'Rouke, lately dead.
2) The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed.
3) Matters arising: -
Deanery Mass - refreshments by the usual team.
4) Meeting Father Peter Verity.
Main idea seemed to be Discipleship - Evangelisation. Various ideas and some strong views were expressed. The aims and objectives were not clear. We the people are the Church - what are our duties? What has failed in the past? What can we do in the future? Changing our Missionary outlook, looking for new ideas.
It was agreed to have a further discussion at the next meeting to pool our thoughts and to put suggestions to the Parish Council (but the Bishop's review might affect this)
5) Grass Roots
a) No further information was available re leaflet
b) Suggested Activity Day at King Edward & Queen Mary School on 10th June by Churches Together. The Blackburn Diocese has offered the facilities. This needs to be publicised and groups need to be contacted. Father Harry and Jan O'Neill will take both matters to the next meeting of Churches Together.
6) Prayers & Devotion
Involvement of the youth at Mass
Look at ideas and age groups etc to see if a pattern emerges
Are church groups working together?
Our brief is to see how to deal with the existing situation.
7) Refreshing the Team
There should be 9 members - names need to be put forward at the next meeting.
8) AOB
Comments re Father Peter Verity for next meeting
Jan to follow up Grass Roots leaflet
Day at KEQM needs advertising and promoting to the other churches.
9) Date of the next meeting:
13th March
