A.Cawthorn opened the meeting with a prayer to the Holy Spirit, and it was accepted that we would use the prayer at future meetings.
The group then considered a scripture reading.
We then discussed the services for Lent and the Triduum.

Deanery Station Mass 28th February, topic: Prayer
P.Drake, A.Cawthorn and A.Zammit have completed the planning of this service.
The reader will be W.Drake, Eucharistic Ministers are not required.

Ash Wednesday
Masses will be at 9.00am, 12 noon, and 7.00pm.

Lenten Service of Parish Reconciliation 29th March at 7.00pm.
A.Cawthorn and K.Moore will plan this service.

Stations of the Cross in Lent
The liturgy of the Word will be replaced by the Stations of the Cross at the Friday evening Mass in Lent.
The following parish groups will be asked to take the lead on different weeks.
Liturgy Group SVP/Cleaners Faith and Light Youth Group PDT Eucharistic Ministers.
We will use the Stations of the Cross, which P.Drake collected last year.

There will be no Taize service in Lent. Instead we will have one at Pentecost using the Novena by Edith Stein

Palm Sunday
P.Drake, C.Woods and E.Kelly will plan this service
This year the full Passion will be read in church and the children will go out after the entrance procession for their version of the Gospel.
The readers for the first two readings will be adolescents.
The children's liturgy group will be informed of the arrangements.
We may need to order leaflets from Farnworth for the service. Fr.Harry will check and liase with F.Dronsfield.
M.Johnson will inform D.Warwick that readers will be needed for all the services for Palm Sunday, two for each Mass.

Holy Thursday
M.Johnson, A.Cawthorn, and K.Moore will plan this service.
The reading from St John's Gospel will take place at 9.30pm.

Good Friday
There will be an ecumenical service starting at Booths and processing to the White Church.
We will not have the Stations of the Cross at St Joseph's in the morning.
A notice will be put in the bulletin to explain, and to encourage everyone to come to the 3.00pm service. P.Drake will liase with the bulletin.

Celebration of the Lord's Passion
R.Page, and C.Woods will be asked to plan this service. C.Ballard will be asked to assist with contacting the youth group.
This year the Passion will be read by four readers, including Fr.Harry and the congregation.
We will only have one cross for the Veneration of the Cross, this will be held by the altar servers.

Easter Vigil.
A.Waters, P.Crean, P.Metcalfe and M.Hesketh will plan this service.
E.Gillet will be asked about the power point presentation.

Easter Sunday Mass 9.30 am
This will be the only Mass on the day
E.Kelly and C.Woods will plan the service

Decoration of the church.
K.Moore will lead on this.
P.Drake had suggested an idea used at Castlerigg and in Keswick using a draped cloth on which the symbols associated with each part of the week were gathered up to Easter, this idea will be studied further.
A discussion will need to take place to determine if the new Health and Safety regulations allow us to have the usual archway of palms at the entrance to the church.

Music for Lent and Easter.
It was agreed that everyone planning one of the services would liase at an early stage with A.Zammit so that new ideas could be used.
A discussion concerning the use of the Latin versions of the Creed and Gloria took place, however it was considered that too few people now knew them and that the parish was now familiar with The Mass of the Bread of Life and we should continue to use it. There may be a service in the future using the Latin settings.
A.Zammit suggested inviting the parish to come one evening to learn the new music for this year. It was felt this was a good plan, and that a Friday evening might be the best time.
