Present:
Edwina Gillett
Bill Drake
Bill Cookson
Jan O'Neill
Mary Hesketh
Father Harry
Richard Jones
Helen Shields
1) The meeting opened with a prayer and an Advent reflection.
2) The minutes of the previous meeting, the following amendments were agreed:
Reconciliation - now 21st December at 7pm
Need to show Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve starting at 11.30pm with Advent
Reflections.
Point (3) should say Buildings or Faith.
Helen agreed to correct the minutes.
3) Matters arising: -
Helen has spoken to Jan Hornby at Our Lady Star of the Sea and will pass on
the contact details of the Bulletin Team.
Jan reported that the ad in the "Local List" looked okay.
4) Skills Audit
Edwina reported that she had received over 100 completed questionnaires and
that some skills have come to light that were not known about before although
Edwina has only looked through them briefly. The process seems to have been
accepted well and no one seems to have complained about doing it. The information
now needs to go onto the computer.
5) Deepening Spirituality within the Parish.
Edwina is to ask Father Peter Verity to address the PDT regarding the situation
of the diminishing church and that other groups will be invited to come along
- especially the Liturgy group.
6) St Paul's drop in Centre need volunteers to help on the 24th January from
1 -
3pm. Jan and Mary volunteered to help but as three or four people are
needed Edwina will put a notice in the bulletin.
7) Election of new chairperson - Edwina will talk to Kate Golightly about being
the Chairperson. If Kate does not want to do it then this will have to be
revisited in January.
8) AOB
Churches together - Father reported that there was a general lack of interest
in all parishes and asked what could be done about it. It was suggested that
we invite the other churches to the Taize evening and Father Harry said that
he would ring round. Edwina said that she would speak to Anne Cawthorne about
it.
Jan asked if we could think of a way of publicising things that are happening
(aside from the bulletin) so that more people can become involved.
9) Closing prayer led by Father Harry.
10) Date of the next meeting - Tuesday 9th January 2007
