Notes of the 48th meeting held in the Presbytery on Tuesday 7th November 2006
Present:
Edwina Gillett
Bill Drake
Bill Cookson
Jan O'Neill
Kate Golightly
Mary Hesketh
Father Harry
Richard Jones
Apologies:
Helen Shields
1) Welcome to Richard Jones
Father Harry led us in a prayer.
2) The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed.
Matters arising: -
Unknown if Helen spoke to Our Lady's School about their input to the bulletin.
Jan reported that she rang the "Local List" and a full page advert
would be £39. However, a double page advert for all churches would be
at a reduced price. The ad needs to be places by 16.11.06. Edwina agreed to
e-mail George from the Baptist Church to confirm:
Christmas Eve: 6pm (Vigil) and 9.30 am (no 5.05pm). 11.30pm Advent Reflections
followed by Midnight Mass.
Christmas Day: 10.00 am
New Year's Day: 12 noon
Reconciliation: 21st December at 7pm.
The Remembrance Service was well attended.
3) The Bishop's visit generally thought to have gone well. Main content was
- Buildings or Faith? Into which do we invest? Preparing for the future when
we have no Priest or are clustered. How well are we really doing? Is mass attractive
to young adults? What can St Joseph's do to make Mass attractive to all especially
the younger end?
Edwina will put together some highlights of the Bishop's visit and we will discuss
what is of further use to the PDT.
4) Skills Audit
Edwina re-shaped the brief and form.
It was felt that the word "occupation" was too exclusive and that
"work experience" or "work and life experience" would be
better. Edwina will alter the questionnaire to reflect this. The entry will
be in the bulletin this week and the brief is to be read at Mass the weekend
of 18/19th November. The second reading is to be dropped at all Masses and music
played whilst the forms are filled in. Edwina will ensure that the questionnaire
and pens are ready for each pew.
The information will be fed into the database; £50 worth of software purchased
for this purpose. Bill Cookson, Father Harry, Edwina and anybody with a real
need only will be given access to this information.
5) Deepening Spirituality within the Parish.
Edwina suggested we should contact Father Peter Verity to address the PDT regarding
the situation of the diminishing church. There is more information in The Voice
and Edwina suggested all the PDT should read this month's Voice and discuss
it at the next meeting.
6) AOB
None.
7) Closing prayer led by Father Harry.
8) Date of the next meeting - Tuesday 5th December
