St Joseph’s Parish Liturgy Group

Minutes of the meeting on the 15th March 2006

Present: C. Woods (Chair), F. Dronsfield, Fr. Harry, A. Cawthorn, A. Waters, P. Crean, M. Johnson.

Apologies: P. Drake, K. Moore, E. Kelly, J. Pomfret, and W. Kruszynska.

The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as accurate.

Workload of the Parish Priest
P. Drake wished the group to consider ways in which the current number of Masses could be reduced. It was felt this was not the remit of the liturgy group but of the PDT, the results of whose Parish Review are awaited. However the Liturgy Planning Group wished to place on record our view, that we would support any change that was made, that would allow Fr. Harry to carry out his pastoral duties with a more realistic workload and less stress.

Churches Together in Ansdell.
The Order of Service For the !6th March service at St Joseph's was shared with the group.
It was decided that tea/coffee, and biscuits should be served afterwards and the tasks involved in catering shared out.
This led to a discussion as to whether the liturgy group should be expected to cater for any liturgical event as well as plan the liturgy. We concluded that we should not, and doing so was distracting us from the purpose of the group. Fr. Harry suggested we approach the Parish Council with this problem; in the first instance however P. Crean will approach the group who cater on Sunday morning and ask if they would help. We decided we would cater for events such as the Liturgy Day last year as this was an important part of attracting a good attendance.

Reconciliation Service for Lent 11th April
