Minutes of the meeting on the 22nd February 2006
Present: C.Woods (Chair), A.Cawthorn, A.Waters, P.Drake, Fr. Harry,
F. Dronsfield,
E.Kelly, M. Johnson.
Apologies: K.Moore, J. Pomfret, W. Kruszynska, P.Crean.
Fr.Harry opened the meeting with a prayer.
The minutes of the meeting of the 6th February were accepted as accurate.
Matters arising
Stations of the Cross
As planned these will be held each Friday in Lent. Stations 1-12 will replace
the Liturgy of the Word at the 7.00pm Mass, the Mass will then carry on from
the Offertory.
The group had considered the books of Stations, which P.Drake had acquired for
discussion. There was general agreement that the two most suitable for use were
Mary's Stations, which we have used before, and Meditations on the Stations
of the Cross on the theme of forgiveness, by Fran Godfrey. It was decided to
use both of these this year. In addition we will use the stations used last
year and another set from a Liturgy Web-site.
It was decided to have the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday morning after
the ecumenical service.
Churches together in Ansdell.
The Lenten services will be held Thursday evenings.
March 9th: White Church.
March 16th: St Joseph's, the theme is The Meek, C.Woods and A. Cawthorn will
meet to plan the service.
March 23rd: St Paul's.
March 30th: Ansdell Baptist Church.
April 6th: Ansdell Methodist Church.
Ash Wednesday
Fr. Harry informed the group that Masses would be at, 9.00am. 12noon, and 6.30pm.
In future on Holydays the evening Mass will also be at 6.30pm.
The times of the Ash Wednesday Masses will be announced in the bulletin and
after the Sunday Masses. In view of the changed time, F.Dronsfield will, also,
put up a poster in the porch.
A discussion of Mass times and numbers followed, and Fr.Harry told the group
that after the Parish Survey is complete and the results collated, he hoped
the Liturgy Group would join with the PDT to review the current Mass provision.
Reconciliation Service
The Lenten service will be held on Tuesday,11th of April. C.Woods, K.Moore and
M.Johnson will meet to plan the Service.
Good Friday Service
The service was discussed and individuals will be approached to ask for their
help in celebrating this liturgy.
Robert Bamber Singers
It was confirmed that this event had been advertised as planned. A. Waters agreed
to purchase the required refreshment for after the service.
Date of next meeting 15th March at 7.00pm.
