1. Mass for the sick and elderly:
After some discussion as to the most suitable day and time for this Mass the
decision was taken that it should be as agreed on Wednesday 31st August at 2.30pm.
A list of names and transport to be arranged by Anne and Ben Cawthorn who will
liaise with Bill and Pauline Drake and the SVP
Fr. Harry is to approach some of the local priests to help with the Sacrament
of the Sick.
Order of Service agreed and to be printed by Chris Woods
Refreshments - Anne Waters to liaise with Margaret Long.
Notice to appear in the bulletin each week from July 30/31st
2. Liturgy Day Saturday 10th September 2005
Fr. Peter Foulkes has agreed to lead the day.
He will meet with as many of the Liturgy Group as are available, to plan the
programme on Wednesday 3rd August at 7.30pm in the presbytery.
Notice to be put in the bulletin inviting all ministries within the parish to
attend and any others who would be interested.
3. Evenings of Prayer and Devotion
It was generally agreed that we need to continue to provide these occasions
but in future they should be at a different time and not replace Friday evening
Mass.
Cathy Moore is to liaise with the house groups re-future plans.
Perhaps the PDT could also be approached.
4. Liaison with other groups
Liz Kelly as the representative of this group will liaise with other groups
through the soon to be formed Parish Council.
The minutes of all our meetings are published on the web site and are available
for anyone to read in the sacristy. A notice to this effect to appear in the
Bulletin.
5. A.O.B.
A letter has been received from Canon Stephen Shield requesting help with the recently launched Organ Restoration Fund at the Cathedral. He suggests coming to play the organ in our church for a "hymn-athon" where people could make a donation in return for their favourite hymn being played and sung. The matter was referred to the Social Committee who is in contact with Canon Shield through arranging an Organ Recital in October.
The chairman explained the importance of the group being led at all times and,
as she (Anne Cawthorn) and the secretary ( Anne Waters) are to be away for some
in the Autumn, proposed that Christine Woods take over the chair. Mary Johnson
offered to take the minutes.
There being no other business the meeting closed with a prayer at 8.35 pm
Date of the next meeting - to be decided after the planning meeting on Wednesday
3rd August.
