St Joseph’s Parish Liturgy Planning Group

Minutes of meeting held on Wednesday 2nd March at 7.30pm

Present A. Cawthorn, Fr. Harry, P. Crean, L. Kelly, P. Drake, F. Dronsfield, A. Waters.

Apologies B. Cawthorn, M. Johnson, R. Page, C. Woods.

Fr. Harry opened the meeting with a prayer
The meeting was informed that M. Long and A. Wormleighton have resigned from the group.

Matters arising Taize Evening - No contact has been made with St. Bede's school to request their help with the music and no other arrangements have been put into place. It was decided that at this time with so few people available and time being short it will not be possible to have a Taize evening this Lent.

Churches Together in Ansdell : Lenten Services The first of the services held in our church was very successful.

Planning for Lent: Stations of the Cross each Friday during evening Mass. Parish groups including Eucharistic Ministers, SVP, Choir, Children's Liturgy, Tea and Chat and the Liturgy Planning Group each leading the stations.

Parish Reconciliation Service This has been planned and will take place on Palm Sunday, March 20th at 3.00pm.

Update on planning for Easter Services:

Palm Sunday - Pauline, Liz and Christine have met to finalise plans- all now in place.

Holy Thursday - Mary, Anne and Fred have met and most of the planning is now complete but they will meet with Fr. Harry to finalise the details.
It was agreed that the Altar of Repose will be place on the Sacred Heart Altar this year.
After some discussion it was agreed that the collection this year would be sent to a local charity and Brian House was suggested.
It will be necessary to have a practice with the people involved in the ceremony and maybe this could be on the previous evening - Wednesday 23rd March.
We have been fortunate to acquire the services of Mr. John Dawson to play the organ for us on Holy Thursday. Mr Dawson is the organist at the White Church. Anne Waters is to liaise with him and arrange for a rehearsal with the choir.

Good Friday -
United Service outside Booths on Woodlands Rd at 9.30am followed immediately by Stations of the Cross in St. Joseph's Church at 10.00am. These will be led by the women from the five churches.
3.00pm Celebration of the Lord's Passion - Anne Wormleighton is planning this Service and she will be contacted to finalise the details.

Easter Vigil- Holy Saturday - Pat Crean and Anne Cawthorn have met and are planning this Service. They will meet with Fr. Harry to make the final arrangements.
Mr. Peter Kay has generously agreed to play the organ for us and has already practised with the choir.

Easter Sunday Morning - Tony Cross has kindly agreed to play the guitar at the 9.30am Mass.
Anne Waters is to produce a sheet showing the times of all services.

A.O.B. It was suggested that after this Holy Week consideration be given to renewing and energising the Liturgy Planning Group - possibly through an invitation to a Liturgist.

The meeting closed at 8.45 pm

Date of the next meeting - to be announced
