Churches Together in Ansdell: Lenten Services
The first meeting is to be held on February 10th at St. Joseph's. The preacher is to be Rev. David Phillps. The theme for the evening is "Suffering". The service should last approximately 45 minutes. A discussion of suggested approaches took place.
A. Cawthorne and C. Woods will meet to plan the service.
There will be services at the other churches each Thursday in Lent.

Reconciliation Service
This is to be held on the afternoon of Palm Sunday. It was suggested that we use the same service as last year, which was a Cafod service. M. Johnson to check if there is an update on the Cafod web site for this year.

Easter services
Palm Sunday. C. Woods/P. Drake are planning this service. It was suggested that instead of Fr. Harry walking around the Stations of the Cross with the children, he should be asked if he would prefer to sit on a chair placed at the centre of the altar and expound the Gospel, while the children go round the Stations of the Cross with one of the children's' liturgists.
Holy Thursday. A. Waters/M. Johnson have met to plan this service. An organist would be helpful if the same music as last year is to be used. Fr. Harry asked whether we would like to include the giving of Maundy money in the service. It was felt this should be considered for next year.
Good Friday morning. Churches Together are holding an ecumenical service at 9.30. am, starting outside Booths led by the minister from the Baptist church, the people will then come to St. Joseph's at 10am for the Stations of the Cross. These will be " Mary's Stations" read by women from the different churches.
F. Dronsfield and J. Pomfret will stand at the church gates to act as guides for the people entering the church, to avoid confusion as previously the hall was used.
Good Friday A. Wormleighton is planning this service.
Easter Vigil A.Cawthone/P. Crean are planning this service. Last years problem getting people into church was discussed and will need further consideration as the early date of Easter increases the risk of inclement weather.
Dr. Kelly has been asked if he will organise the power point presentation again. This has proved very effective and popular and everyone present hoped he would be prepared to do it again.

A discussion then took place about future planning for Easter. The group is grateful to Fr.Harry for keeping the services unchanged this year. These services have proved popular and continuity was felt important. However, reviewing the minutes of the meeting held on the21st April 2004, we had decided that as a group we needed to spend time reflecting on and considering the liturgy before planning this year's services. It was hoped that after this Easter we could arrange an "away day " to consider this. C. Woods suggested a possible guest expert.
A. Cawthorne to add this item for discussion with Fr. Harry after Easter.

Stations of the Cross
During Lent at the Friday evening Mass, the Liturgy of the Word will be replaced by the Stations of the Cross. The Eucharistic ministers, the Children's liturgists, the Choir and the SVP will be asked to read for different weeks.

Purple covering for the statues
After discussion it was decided not to repeat this

Any Other Business
It was agreed that D. Warwick should be informed well in advance if the liturgy group were planning a service so that the task of finding readers would not be duplicated. M. Johnson will inform him that we would be grateful if he would arrange the readers for the Saturday vigil mass for Palm Sunday and the Sunday evening Mass, also for the Mass on Easter Sunday evening.

At the request of the Parish Development Team A. Cawthorne had approached Fr. Joe concerning planning for his Jubilee next July, but he had declined her offer to help with the organisation. The group remain ready to offer any assistance we can if asked.

Date of next meeting 2nd March.7.30pm
