St Joseph’s Parish Liturgy Group

Minutes of meeting held on Wednesday 29th November at 7.00pm

Present
Present A. Cawthorn, M. Long, P. Crean, J. Wiseman, A. Wormleighton, P. Drake, F. Dronsfield, R. Page, A. Jones, A. Waters.
1. The meeting opened with a prayer and the chairman welcomed all present.

Apologies

3. Minutes and Matters arising
Minutes agreed and accepted. - The Youth Sunday arrangements were judged to be very successful. The youth group at the evening Mass equipped themselves very well. At the 9.30 am Mass the children also read very well. - Mass of Commemoration for the Holy Souls. It was decided that we need to reconsider the format for next year because very few of the relatives or friends of the deceased were at the mass and other members of the congregation had to be asked to carry up candles.
It has not been possible to obtain the Advent day to day books this year.

4. Christmas arrangements
Midnight Mass - Carol service has been planned to take place at 11.30 pm. A procession to the crib will follow the carols. Fr. Joe is to be asked to carry the baby and the crib will be blessed before the start of Mass. This is to be a simple Mass with choir singing. No incense. Musical accompaniment is yet to be decided. Servers are to be arranged. Congregation are invited to join the clergy in the presbytery for drinks and nibbles. Action A. CawthornF. Dronsfield A.Wormleighton R. Page
Christmas Day. 9.30am Mass to start with a procession to the crib. There will be no children's liturgy that day but the children will be involved in the readings and the bidding prayers. 11.00am Mass. Fr. Joe will say this Mass. Action P. Drake
Boxing Day One Mass only 9.30 am January 1st - Feast of the Mother of God. Mass at 11.00am followed by Punch and Mince pies in the presbytery.
Readers are to be arranged for all Masses over the Christmas period. Action P. Drake
J. Wiseman was thanked for the very good efforts that she makes with keeping the flowers and plants in good order in the church. Some discussion about the arrangements for flowers, especially at Christmas resulted in a decision being taken to ask for helpers, both on special occasions and throughout the year. Joyce is to be away at Christmas and alternative arrangements for the flowers need to be made. Action P.Crean A.Waters
Decorating the church for Christmas: The tree is be ordered and put in place on or after 22nd December.The church is to be decorated and prepared for Christmas Wednesday 22nd December. Notice in the bulletin asking for volunteer helpers. Help to be sought to assemble the crib and to help put up the Christmas tree. Action A. Waters A. Cawthorn P.Crean P. Drake

5. Progress reports
a. Advent - Taize evening is all arranged for Friday 3rd December
b. Children's Liturgy Fr. Harry has requested that the children's liturgy should take place every Sunday and the present arrangement for the First Sunday of the month for the children to remain in church should be revised. C. Woods to be contacted about making the necessary arrangements. Action A. Waters
c. Parish Service of Reconciliation - Some discussion about the format for the Service took place. After further discussion with Fr. Harry final arrangements will be made. Action M. Long A. Cawthorn
d. St. Peter' School - Carol Service Monday 20th December.

6. Forward Planning - carried forward to the next meeting.

7. Areas of Responsibility
It was pointed out that it is very important to communicate with the parish and those decisions taken and arrangements made should be made clear to the parishioners. There was some discussion as to how this can be achieved and how members of the team could share the load. P. Crean agreed to be responsible for sending items to the bulletin and F. Dronsfield will make posters advertising forthcoming services etc. to be put up in church. Action P. Crean F. Dronsfield
Fr. Harry has had a Christmas card printed with details of all the services over the Christmas period. These will need to be distributed around the parish. Action P. Crean A. Waters

8. A.O.B
.In future copies of the minutes will be available in the sacristy. All members are asked to take a copy from the wallet on the notice board. Minutes are also sent to the PDT and the parish web site. There was no other business The meeting closed with a prayer at 8.45 pm.
