Notes of twenty-seventh meeting held in the Presbytery on Thursday 30th September 2004 at 8:00pm

Present:
Bill Cookson
Bill Drake
Edwina Gillett (notes)
Kath Hallion
Fr Harry Holden
Margaret Kelly
Paul Kelly (chair)
Wanda Kruzsynska

Apologies:
Anne Cawthorn
Bernard Cooper

1. Paul opened the meeting and welcomed all present.

2. Edwina led the opening prayer & a period of reflection on Luke 17: 1:6

3. Sound System: All agreed that this was a priority. Fr Harry has asked Martin Hurst to investigate options with experts in Leeds. He awaits the recommendations which he hopes will be available by the next meeting.

4. Mass Times: The results of the Vote were accepted. There then followed a detailed discussion on all the feedback that had been received both verbally and in writing. It was agreed that implementation of the Voting results would be deferred pending further consultation and discussion at the Deanery Pastoral Council on 21 October. Fr Harry would reassure the congregation at all Masses over the weekend of 2/3 October that their views had been listened and that the matter would be discussed at Deanery level.

5. Parish Retreat: The theme for the Retreat was agreed as "One Family, A Time To Be Together". A poster and a list were already available at the back of Church and an advert would be appearing in the bulletin during October.

6. Photocopiers: Bill Cookson had completed an evaluation of various available systems. Potential cost is estimated to be in the region of £1,000. Bill agreed to obtain the full specification of the favoured system before any spend is committed.

7. Finance: The Parish is currently facing a number of major expenditure commitments including a new sound system, a new photocopier and invoices for repairs to the heating system. It was agreed to ask the Finance Committee for an update on the Parish finances so that items could be discussed and prioritised.

8. Youth Group: The Team were pleased to hear that the Youth Group was thriving with regular attendances of up to 30. The Group is however desperately short of helpers despite appeals via the bulletin. As a matter of urgency it was agreed that an approach to the Diocesan Youth Officer was needed to enquire what help was available through this source. Paul agreed to make contact with the Diocesan Youth Officer and to let the Youth Group know what action was being taken to secure some assistance.

9. Church Cleaning: It was also very pleasing to note that the small Monday cleaning team is doing extremely well and that their efforts are helping the regular Wednesday team to maintain the very high standard of care and presentation for the internal décor of our Church. We are most grateful to both teams for their time and service.

10. Idea: A possibility for the future is to consider a " Bring a Friend" service.

11. Date of Next Meeting: Tuesday 19 October at 8:00pm.

12. The meeting closed at 9:45 pm with a prayer.
