St Joseph’s Parish Ansdell Development Team

Notes of twenty-fifth meeting held in the Presbytery on Wednesday 21st July 2004 at 8:00pm

Present:
Bernard Cooper
Bill Drake
Edwina Gillett (notes)
Margaret Kelly
Paul Kelly (chair)
Wanda Kruzsynska
Fr Aidan Turner

Apologies:
Anne Cawthorn
Bill Cookson
Kath Hallion

1. Paul opened the meeting and welcomed all present.

2. Bernard led the opening prayer & a period of reflection on Luke 11: 1-13

3. Census: The Team recorded their thanks to Kath Hallion for her efforts in coordinating the production and distribution of the Census Forms. It was also noted that people living outside the Parish boundary but who attended St Joseph's on a regular basis may wish to complete a form. Extra blank copies have therefore been left at the back of Church for people to complete and return via the Suggestion Box. Margaret Kelly continues to develop the database where the information supplied on the Census Forms will be stored.

4. Skills Audit: This project is currently at the stage of designing the forms that we hope will be completed by each member of our Parish family.

5. Welcome Cards: Progress report held over to next meeting

6. Welcomers: Coverage at Sunday's 5:05 Mass still a problem, note to be placed in the weekend bulletin asking for volunteers. Possible meeting for all Welcomers to be arranged later.

7. Piety Stall: No additional volunteers have come forward following the notice in the bulletin. A notice advertising for volunteers to be prepared and placed on the Piety Stall gates. Actions: Bill Cookson to liaise with Trish Fanning Piety Stall coordinator to obtain her agreement to the suggestion and Paul Kelly to produce a suitable notice.

8. Finance: The Team took on board the strong feeling expressed by the Choir about the decision to defer the purchase of a new sound system for the Church until the arrival of Fr Holden. The Team were grateful to the Choir for their ideas and confidence that any capital outlay for a new sound system would be recouped by a number of specific fund raising events. Action: Paul Kelly to liaise with the Choir to progress.

9. Parish Retreat: It was agreed to arrange this Retreat for Sunday 24 October at Brettargh Holt from 10:00 - 16:00hrs. The cost will be £6 per adult and £5 per student. Attendees will be expected to take a packed lunch. At this stage it is not envisaged to run a coach, it is hoped that those Parishioners with cars will provide spaces for those without any transport. The theme for the Retreat will be agreed at the next meeting. Action: Edwina Gillett to confirm the booking with Brettargh Holt and pay the non-refundable £30 deposit.

10. Photocopiers: The interim suggestion to utilise facilities at St Bedes was not seen as practicable option by the Bulletin Team. More quotes for replacing the existing Parish photocopiers would therefore be sought and these to be discussed with Fr Holden.

11. Bulletin Team: Not all of the Team have access to the Presbytery to collect bulletin input. Action: Fr Aidan to agree access arrangements with those concerned.

12. Team Links with other Parish Groups: A revised sheet is attached

13. Listenening 2004 (National Project for Supporting Family): The Team was encouraged by Fr Aidan to submit any comments they had to Cathedral House by 31 July.

14. Deanery Pastoral Council: Bernard Cooper and Edwina Gillett will represent the Parish at this meeting to be held at St Joseph's in October.

15. Marriage Course: This is going ahead starting in September and details are displayed in the Church Porch.

16. Parish Group Displays: The Team welcomed the suggestion from May Golightly for purpose built display stands for the back of Church. However it will be necessary to investigate the various options available and obtain some cost comparisons before any investment is made. Anne Cawthorn to liaise with May on this.

17. Church Cleaning: Following the closure of the Park View Centre in Lytham there have been efforts to integrate those who attended the Centre into the community. Some of those who attended the centre have cleaning skills and will form a small team who will undertake some cleaning work in Church on Mondays. This will supplement our own Cleaning Team who meet in Church every Wednesday after Mass. We are grateful to Pat Metcalf who coordinates the Church cleaning activity for arranging this.

18. Collaborative Ministry Course: Due to the retirement of Dympna McGee this course will no longer be available. Instead a Scripture Course will commence in the Autumn. More details can be found in the bulletin.

19. Fr Aidan: Paul on behalf of the whole team thanked Fr Aidan for all his help, support and guidance given to the Team over the past 2 years and wished him well in his new ministry at Our Lady Star of the Sea.

20. Date of Next Meeting: Wednesday 1 September at 8:00pm

21. The meeting closed at 9:45 with a prayer.
