1 Paul opened the meeting and welcomed all present.
2 Bill Drake led the opening prayer and a period of reflection on John 10:27-30.
3 Minutes of last meeting: Paul asked that his talk with Cath Halliday re the bulletin notice about the Development Team activities omitted from the last notes be recorded.
4 Information cards for newcomers: No volunteer designers have come forward. Kath agreed to contact Pat Ormond to see if the Youth Club would be interested in helping. Paul also suggested contacting Richard Jones for his help.
5 Team Retreat: Wanda confirmed the programme for the day which will include morning prayers, a period of reflection, Mass and a session to plan the way forward. Dympna McGee from the Diocesan Education Service will facilitate the day. The team are advised to take packed lunches and that a fee will be payable on the day.
6 Marriage Course: The course will commence on 8th September 2004 and finish on 20th September 2004. Luke and Andrea Smith from our parish will be assisting Dave and Olive Yates from St Peter's who will lead the group.
7 Youth Placement from ''Time For God'': The suggestion of having a young person to help with the Youth in our Parish was discussed. The idea was agreed in principle but before any decision is made the Team recommended that Fr Aidan should liaise with Pat Ormond on the following issues and then report back to the Team with their proposals:
(a) As the Youth Club only meets once a fortnight could this person be involved
in other work within the Parish?
(b) Could another Parish be asked to share the resource. If so which?
(c) Does the Parish already have any suitable candidates who could be approached
to fulfil the role?
8 Parish Census: The Team looked at two samples of the census and made some
amendments. Kath will take both samples to the Five Church meeting on Tuesday
5 May 2004 for approval. Kath also had quotes of costs for both the printing
of the census forms, envelopes and Freepost envelopes. She will report back
to the Development Team as soon as a decision is made.
9 Collaborative Ministry: Wanda spoke to us about the work she has been doing on this course. She showed us some leaflets which could be used in the future to help find what Gifts we have in the Parish. Bereavement Counselling has also been part of the course and Fr Aidan is keen for a team to train in this subject, this will be taken forward at a future meeting.
10 Diocesan Protection: Paul asked Bill Cookson to give us an update at the next meeting.
11 Gift Aid: Bill Cookson is to approach Tony Crean and discuss how contributors through the Gift Aid scheme cauld be boosted. It was suggested that Ben Aitkin may have some ideas that could be of help in raising the awareness of Gift Aid.
12 Date of Next Meeting: Tuesday May 11th at 8pm
13 The meeting closed at 9:50 with a prayer
