Notes of twentieth meeting held in the Presbytery on Tuesday 30th March 2004 at 8:00pm

Present:
Anne Cawthorn
Bernard Cooper
Bill Drake
Edwina Gillett (notes)
Kath Hallion
Paul Kelly (chair)
Wanda Kruzsynska

Apologies:
Bill Cookson
Margaret Kelly
Fr Aidan Turner

1. Paul opened the meeting and welcomed all present.

2. Kath led the opening prayer and a period of reflection on Isaiah 50:4-7.

3. Youth: Fr Aidan and Deacon Michael have hosted a successful meal for 16-20 yr olds in the Presbytery and a similar evening is planned in the near future.

4. Bulletin: The Bulletin Team would like to publish details of all the different Parish activities and will shortly be contacting all groups and societies for short contributions.

5. Welcome/Request a Visit Cards: Examples available in other local Churches were reviewed and it was agreed that St Joseph's should commission their own card which then would be freely available to visitors and parishioners alike. A volunteer to design the card would be sought via a note in the bulletin.

6. Development Team Retreat: This will be a full day at the Tabor Centre on Sunday 9 May. The event will be facilitated by Dympna McGee and include Mass celebrated by Fr Aidan.

7. Census: Broad agreement reached with the other local Churches in Ansdell to take this forward as a joint project. A mock-up of the census form and full costings to be presented at the next 5 Churches in Ansdell meeting to be held in early May. Edwina and Paul will work on the design and Kath agreed to determine costs. The initial design will concentrate on general details and once all replies are in it is intended to carry out a Parish skills audit. A parish in Carlisle has already undertaken a skills audit and Wanda agreed to obtain a copy of the form used in readiness for the next stage.

8. Marriage Course: Dave & Olive Yates of St Peter's Church Lytham have successfully designed and delivered a course for married couples. So far couples in the Preston area have benefited from this marriage development course. It was agreed to invite Dave & Olive Yates to run their marriage course for our Parish in the autumn. More details will be available nearer the time.

9. Bereavement Counselling: Wanda will provide details of how this might be organised in the Parish at the next meeting.

10. Activity Clashes: There have been a couple of instances recently were regular meetings have had to be cancelled at the last minute to accommodate other one off events. To try and avoid such clashes details of all regular meetings will be displayed in the Presbytery, the Sacristry and the Church Porch. Anyone planning an event is asked to first check the regular meeting sheet and make contact with the relevant representative as appropriate.

11. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 27 April in the Presbytery.

12. The meeting closed at 9:45 with a prayer.
