St Joseph's Parish Ansdell Development Team

Notes of sixteenth meeting held in the Presbytery on Tuesday 2 December 2003 at 8:00pm

Present:
Anne Cawthorn
Bill Cookson
Bill Drake
Edwina Gillett (notes)
Kath Hallion
Margaret Kelly
Paul Kelly
Wanda Kruzsynska (chair)

Apologies:
Fr Aidan Turner
Bernard Cooper

1. Wanda opened the meeting and welcomed those present.

2. A period of reflection on Luke 3: 1-6 then followed.

3. Parish Assembly:
Outputs from the Assembly had been prepared by Dympna McGee and this was reviewed. Three items were considered to be of immediate priority:

maximising use of the new Hall facilities and co-ordination of activities
engaging the Youth in Parish ministries
fostering and developing Ecumenical links

4. Hall:
Arthur Bowyer and Cath Kelly who have volunteered to control bookings for the Hall to be invited to attend the forthcoming meeting of representatives from each parish committee/group/society. The aim of this meeting is to discuss how best to co-ordinate all the different activities to avoid, where possible, any overlap or clashes on dates etc., and to establish how groups can best communicate their plans to each other and the Parish Development Team.

5. Youth:
Margaret Kelly to meet with Deacon Michael to discuss how best to engage more of the Youth in Parish ministries. Following a recommendation from Dympna McGee the discussion will also include the possibility of co-opting a second Youth representative onto the Parish Development Team.

6. Ecumenism:
Kath Hallion and Fr Aidan represent the Parish at the meeting of the five Ansdell Churches. It was agreed, as Fr Aidan was absent, to defer any further discussion on Ecumenism until the next meeting.

7. Bulletin:
The Bulletin team are currently looking at the design of the bulletin sheet and so far have developed a folded A4 presentation which is quite impressive and appears to have a lot of potential. It is hoped to launch the new look bulletin very shortly and any feedback will be welcome.

8. House Groups:
Fr Aidan and Deacon Michael will speak about House Groups at all Masses over the weekend of 24/25 January, prospective hosts will also be available on leaving Church to answer any questions and hand out leaflets. Further details will be included in the Bulletin in the New Year.

9. Discernment of new chairperson:
Paul Kelly was discerned as the new chairperson and takes over from Wanda Kruzsynska who is stepping down. Paul thanked Wanda for her chairmanship throughout the inaugural year of the Parish Development Team.

10. Date of Next Meeting:
Thursday 15 January at 8:00pm

11. The meeting closed at 9:45 with a prayer.
